Competition Rules and Conditions
Entering BBNYA 2024 means you agree with the following:
Authors who enter their novel in The Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Award agree to have their novel judged by our panel (volunteer book bloggers) and understand that the awards are based solely on merit and that the judges decisions are final. The author is not permitted to contact panelists about their entry, any such contact will result in disqualification.
Author accepts that the 20 euro entrance fee is to be paid via PayPal and is non-refundable. BBNYA prizes and running costs are self-funded using entry fees.
The author is aware that they are not guaranteed any form of remuneration, be that prize, award, exposure or publicity for their entry fee. This is an administration fee.
The author gives The Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Award and their associates permission to read and judge their work, and will not hold them responsible for any damages seen or imagined that may result from entry.
The author gives The Book Bloggers Novel of the Year Award and its associates permission to post their book cover, title, excerpts, or use author’s name for publicity purposes during and after the contest. The author is aware that the judges have no obligation to review, promote, critique or edit their book.
The author agrees that if participating in the cover competition, their cover art was not produced with AI technology.
Any and all updates about the books advancing to following rounds will be done on our site and on our social media. No individual correspondence will be entered into, it is the author’ responsibility to check their social media and the competition website for news of their entry.
The winning author and finalists agree to provide an address to which any prizes requiring postage can be delivered.
All entries will be judged on the original submission unless otherwise stated. Authors may make one submission only and this cannot be amended or updated.
An author cannot enter multiple novels, use multiple pen names or enter somebody else's work. A book written by multiple people ('co-authored') may be submitted by one of the authors with the explicit permission of all others concerned. The co-authors are not allowed to submit any additional novel of their own as the co-authored book is considered as one (1) entry.
The author maintains any and all rights to their work.
The author is responsible for any and all costs incurred in submitting their book.
We reserve the right to withdraw entries if we determine the entrant has failed to meet the R&C’s or entering requirements. The entrance fee remains non-refundable.
We reserve the right to withdraw entries if we deem the entrant is behaving inappropriately to other entrants, the panelists or in general. The entrance fee remains non-refundable.
The author has the right to withdraw their entry from the contest at any point. The entrance fee remains non-refundable.
We reserve the right to update these R&Cs at any time.
Please remember that this competition is for authors and publishers who traditionally do not have the amount of resources that bigger names possess. We ask that you do not enter your title if you are a well-known author who has published under other names and/or with bigger publishers.
